Today we have received the very welcome news that Sinfonia Viva has been successful in our application to continue as one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations. The support we will receive for three years from April 2023 will provide Sinfonia Viva with solid financial basis on which we can continue to develop our diverse programme of activity, from orchestral concerts throughout the East Midlands, to our award winning creative programmes in schools and communities.

The support from Arts Council England of £195,642 is significant, however, this funding level has remained static for a number of years while costs have increased. Therefore, to fulfil our ongoing ambition to bring orchestral music, and the many benefits of creative music making and performance, to as many people as possible, we will need to increase our fundraising efforts from other sources over the coming years.

As we come to the end of our 40th Anniversary year Sinfonia Viva is now able to look to the future with increased confidence thanks to the support, and endorsement, of Arts Council England.

Peter Knott, Area Director for Arts Council England said: "Sinfonia Viva plays an important part in the East Midlands cultural scene and we're delighted to be investing in their work over the next three years. Through its programme of concerts and events, Viva creates opportunities for people to experience classical music and it'll be great to see our funding inspiring people to not only listen and enjoy music, but to take part themselves."
