We are delighted that Katie Lucas will be joining Sinfonia Viva as our Head of Creative Programmes from September.

Katie brings a wealth of experience in working with community groups and schools, and has been instrumental in developing concert formats for Families, Early Years Groups, and Relaxed performances for people living with dementia during her time as Head of Learning & Engagement at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Katie said: “I’m really excited to be joining Sinfonia Viva, who have an amazing reputation for delivering high-quality creative programmes throughout the East Midlands and beyond. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the orchestra’s musicians to further develop Viva’s community projects, enabling people to express themselves creatively, and experience the joy of performing alongside professional musicians.”

Lucy Galliard, Sinfonia Viva’s Chief Executive, said: “The team are thrilled to have Katie joining us in such an important role for the organisation. She shares our commitment to providing projects that place co-creation and inclusion at the heart of the creative process. In addition, her expertise in developing relaxed, schools, and family concerts will help Viva provide exceptional live performances for even more people.

Katie will succeed Marianne Barraclough in this role. Marianne has developed and led our Creative Programme for the last 18 years and will be taking up a new role as Executive Director of More Music in Morecambe from July. Everyone at Sinfonia Viva wishes Marianne every success in this next exciting stage or her career.
