Who We Are

Our vision is for every community to be inspired by music.

Sinfonia Viva is the Orchestra of the East Midlands. We are the only professional orchestra in the region, bringing high quality musical experiences to its communities.

Music for everyone

We make live classical music accessible to many people. You can experience what we do in many ways, but they all share some characteristics.

You could see us playing concerts in Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough and other venues around the East Midlands.

You might take part in a project where you work with musicians to create brand new music drawing on your own experiences.

Or you could come to one of our family events where children can discover orchestral music in a warm and welcoming environment.

However you meet us, we’re committed to mixing the highest quality of musicianship with a friendly and personal approach that means that everyone can enjoy and take part in what we do.

Concerts

Our programme includes spectacular outdoor concerts, immersive family events and a regular series in Derby Cathedral, Derby’s Museum of Making and Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall. Browse our upcoming events and join us for performances in Derby, Nottingham, Southwell and beyond.

Creative projects

In the last year, 4,064 people have taken part in our creative projects, including 2,738 children and young people.

Our people-centred approach to music making and co-creation has a national reputation for innovation and creativity, and our skills in enabling effective partnership working means our work is in demand not only across the East Midlands, but as far afield a Essex, Suffolk and East Yorkshire.
