Welcome to Sinfonia Viva’s new year of music making across the East Midlands. The year ahead sees us welcome back old friends, showcase exciting young talent, celebrate Sinfonia Viva musicians as soloists, increase opportunities for our youngest audience members, and further our creative collaborations with the region’s Cathedral Choirs and Museums.

Deputy Chief Executive: Programme, Marianne Barraclough, left Sinfonia Viva this month to join More Music as their Executive Director. Marianne has led the development of Sinfonia Viva’s creative projects since October 2005, and has reflected on some of the most interesting, unusual, moving and important projects during the past 19 years.

We are delighted that Katie Lucas will be joining Sinfonia Viva as our Head of Creative Programmes from September.

We pride ourselves on delivering impactful, spectacular, large-scale performances, whilst caring deeply about the experience of each individual performer or participant. Energy 2024 was certainly no exception to this. Creative Projects Producer, Hattie Coupe, takes us behind the scenes of producing a creative project of such epic proportions.

Sinfonia Viva, the East Midlands’ only professional orchestra which celebrates its 40^th anniversary this year, has been confirmed as a National Portfolio Organisation by Arts Council England and its funding secured for a further three years starting April 2023.
