Introducing our new season

Welcome to our new concert season. This year features beloved orchestral and chamber music classics alongside lesser-known gems by Vivaldi, Finzi and Mozart’s contemporary Antonio Salieri.

We will be welcoming internationally renowned artists throughout the year, including accordionist Miloš Milivojević, soprano Jessica Cale, violinist Michael Foyle, and BAFTA-nominated actor Juliet Stevenson CBE (in a Jane Austen-themed programme).

Our own exceptional musicians will be celebrated across the year. Leader, Sophie Rosa, will perform concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, and Mozart, while Principal Clarinet, Matt Dunn, takes centre stage in works by Finzi and Mozart.

From our Handel & Bach concert under Luke Jerram’s installation Helios (a seven-metre replica of the sun) to a weekend of extraordinary musical performances to celebrate Derby Cathedral’s 100th Anniversary, this season brings you some of the most amazing music in fantastic venues.

New for 2027: Derby Cathedral and Sinfonia Viva are bringing a new classical music festival to Derby.

Over three days a diverse range of performances will be taking place, including a specially curated Family Concert. Audiences can also join members of the Kanneh-Mason Family (Sinfonia Viva’s patrons) for an afternoon of conversation, music and cake, participate in a Come and Sing event with a guest choral leader and Derby Cathedral Choir, and attend a Festival Service at the Cathedral. We will be sharing the full Festival line up in early 2027, so for now hold the dates – Friday 7 to Sunday 9 May 2027!

We can’t wait to share these performances with you.

Chief Executive
