Maddy Aldis-Evans – Principal Oboe

She also performs as a guest with many orchestras including BBC NOW, BBC Philharmonic, Bath Philharmonia, Birmingham Royal Ballet, CBSO, Halle, Longborough Opera, Orchestra of the Swan and WNO. Recent solo performances include the Bach Double Concerto, Heinichen’s G minor Oboe Concerto, Morricone’s Gabriel’s Oboe and Copland’s The Quiet City with Sinfonia Viva. Composition commissions have included War-Torn and the angel for string orchestra, solo flute and trumpet and actor by the IMPULS festival for new music in Saxon-Anhalt in 2012, River by TrevesPunkt Reed quintet based in Trier, Germany, premiered at the OPENING 2015 festival and Woven by Sinfonia Viva for Wind Quintet (2023). The Enchanted Forest was premiered at the 2019 St. Endellion Festival followed by The Hurlers and the rumour catcher in 2022.

You can see Maddy perform at many of our concerts in 2024/25. Last year we intended to premiere Woven, her composition inspired by a historic Bowmer Bond loom at its new home in Derby’s Museum of Making. Unfortunately heavy flooding in Derby meant we had to move that performance to an alternative venue, but thankfully we’re performing Woven again on Thursday 25 January 2025 at the Museum of Making.

Maddy is also creating wind arrangements of Rossini’s Cat Duet and Prokofiev’s Pas de Chale from Cinderella for our Peter and the Wolf family concert at Derby Cathedral on Saturday 5 October 2024.
