Sophie Rosa | Leader

Sophie Rosa enjoys a varied career as a soloist, director and chamber musician. She has performed across the UK as a recitalist in venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and Bridgewater Hall and has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata.

Nicholas Kok | Guest Principal Conductor

Nicholas Kok was our Principal Conductor and Artistic Director from 1996 to 2006, and has continued his association with us ever since. He has also served as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of Psappha and Chief Guest Conductor of the WDR Rundfunkchor.

He has made our New Year’s Eve festivities at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall his over more than two decades. In 2024 he joins us again to lead the celebrations with a playful programme celebrating 100 years since the first television broadcast.

David Lawrence | Choral Advisor

David Lawrence is one of the UK’s most versatile conductors, working with orchestras, symphony choruses and national youth choirs.  He has been nominated for a Gramophone Award for his conducting and holds the Guinness World Record for conducting the UK’s largest choir. He has conducted in more than 25 countries, including Canada, Colombia, India, Singapore, the USA, and has worked regularly in Australia since 2005.

David is Choral Advisor to Sinfonia Viva and has worked closely since 1998.  He is the conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra’s Community Choir and Senior Youth Choir, and as Principal Conductor of Young Voices, a position he has held for 23 years, directs massed choirs in an annual series of concerts with some choirs incorporating more than 8,000 singers.
