Energy The project Energy took place in early 2019 and was the culmination of an annual creative project performed at Derby Theatre. Working with eight schools and music students from Derby College, we performed two full length shows that included music, science, visual projections and more. "This wonderful experience will support the development of their confidence, resilience and aspiration. It was a very moving and rewarding event that will stay with me, their parents and most importantly themselves for the rest of their lives." Neil Wilkinson - Executive Headteacher at The Bemrose School <br> The method The project involved young people from Becket Primary School, Firs Primary School, The Bemrose School, Derby College, Cavendish Close Junior School, Repton Primary School, Portway Junior School, Reigate Primary School and Springfield Primary School. Working closely with the participants we helped them write words and music to create brand new songs that all focused on the theme of energy, where it comes from and why we need to value it. Workshops took place in schools during a two month period and from this each class crafted their very own songs which were finally performed by them on stage in the main theatre at Derby Theatre alongside our Grammy-nominated orchestra. Becket Primary Participant <br> Meeting the needs of the curriculum This series of annual projects which now include the themes of mathematics, coding, physics and now renewable energy all developed from a need from schools to teach hard to teach subjects in a new and innovative way. The use the arts in this respect has made this series of projects so successful, not only offering teaching opportunities and real learning outcomes, but also improving confidence and giving participants a real sense of pride in their achievements.
