Join us for an online video premiere to celebrate the New Year and the end of our campaign to keep to Carers Choir singing after Christmas and into 2021.

We will be premiering a video documenting the highs and lows and what 2020 was like for Sing Viva. Using performance footage and interviews, this film will mark the end of the fundraising campaign to help ensure the carers choir can continue singing after new year and well into 2021.

We need you to help us raise our target of £3600 by New Year's day 2021.

To help us do this, a generous match funder has agreed to kindly support this campaign. Because of this fantastic match fund we can match the first £1,800 that we raise.

This means that every £1 you give could be worth £2.25 with gift aid. So £10 becomes £25

Can you help ensure that this wonderful group of people can continue singing into the New Year and beyond? The Carers Choir needs vital funding to continue.

The effects of Covid-19 have hit so many people, with carers being effected especially deeply. Our Carers Choirs has gone virtual during this time to ensure that our members can sing at home. Singing together for 2 hours per week provides creative respite, needed social interaction and huge benefits to health and mental wellbeing. A donation of £10 will allow a carer to sing to 2 hours a week.

"It's been a really tough week, with fear of bringing the virus back into the house, tonight's really cheered me up and taken my mind off everything. Thank you. Everything you do is so appreciated"

The choir is completely free to join and is always open to new members. Many of the people involved are sandwich carers, caring for a loved one whilst also working - being sandwiched between their responsibilities.

As a member of the Carers Choir has said

"My husband and I joined the carers choir at a time in our lives when we were caring for both my disabled elderly mother and Andy's brother, who came to live with us while he was being treated for an aggressive form of cancer.

Our Tuesday nights once a month gave us something for ourselves. A much needed distance from our responsibilities. I released so many 'feel good' hormones and surrounded us with happy people and happy music. A fabulous tonic.

During lockdown there has been such variety in the weekly choir sessions - we've appreciated the musical challenges and really value the distraction from family worries and COVID anxieties.

We also love the interest we share is something we can do together."

"It came into my life at just the right time. Sadly we found out that our daughter had Inflammatory Bowel Disease (amongst other conditions), a life long chronic autoimmune condition with no cure. Sing Viva has been a constant when our life has been far from it. It is a place I feel comfortable and relaxed. It's somewhere I feel safe and nurtured"

So please, help us and care for a carer during Covid-19.

Your support will make all the difference by donating invaluable time out to carers who desperately need this support system at this time.

We are also looking for business sponsorship for the choir

During the pandemic, we have ensured that we not only keep the choir together, but increase the number of sessions to every two weeks.

For £250 your company could help keep this vital support for carers going. Contact us for more information on how you can become part of this hugely beneficial cause.

Patrons Support

Our Patrons the Kanneh-Mason family are offering their support as it offers a vital lifeline for so many.

"As Patrons of Sinfonia Viva we are delighted to support their match funding campaign to keep the Sing Viva Carers Choirs singing. During these challenging times there is more pressure than ever on carers within our community. taking time out each week to do something that makes us happy is so important for health and wellbeing. As a family that enjoys playing music together this is something close to our hearts. For every pound pledged to the Sing Viva campaign this will be matched, doubling the amount that the choir will receive to keep running. Let's keep the virtual choirs singing in the hope that one day they will soon be able to sing again in person."

Caring Facts

  • Caring for a loved one with long term disability, illness, or dependency issues can be extremely difficult. Isolation and loneliness are common for carers, who often find themselves caring for over 50 hours a week, in a unpaid role behind closed doors.

  • Our Carers Choirs offer a vital support network, whilst also giving them 2 hours a week to sing and make friends in a safe space. Research by Carers UK has found that 40% of unpaid carers have not had a break in over a year, whilst 25% have not received a single day away from caring in over 5 years. COVID-19 and lockdown has only added to the pressures.

  • A Carers UK study also went on to find that carers who have not had a break in a year or more reported a deterioration in their health, both mentally (75%) and physically (65%). Despite this lack of personal time, 87% of carers still struggle to find time away from their care duties. Almost a third (29%) of carers are worried that practical support for them might be reduced in the future.

So please, help us keep Sing Viva singing. You're support is greatly appreciated.
